(Galbulidae)
Jacamars prey almost exclusively on flying insects
All jacamars have a sharp beak
All jacamars wear the tinny emerald found in a forest of clouds after rain barring the White-eared Jacamar which mimics the ground after rain the Pale-headed Jacamar the Three-toed Jacamar the White-throated Jacamar which all mimic the sky before rain the Brown Jacamar the Long-tailed Jacamar which mimic the night in a forest of clouds
The Coppery-chested Jacamar has a solar eye
The White-eared Jacamar and the Purus Jacamar shed red tears
The female Rufous-tailed Jacamar has an emerald tail
The Coppery-chested Jacamar is a vulnerable species
The Three-toed Jacamar is an endangered species
